What Is Low Stress Handling?
Low Stress Handling was a premise introduced by Dr Sophia Yin.
Dr Yin was a veterinarian, applied animal behaviorist, author and lecturer. She dedicated her professional career to helping pioneer the use of positive reinforcement for training dogs.
The purpose of a low stress handling certification helps us to understand how to create a low stress environment for your pets, and handle them in a less stressful manner.
What It Means For: You
When you see the low stress handling logo displayed, you know you are dealing with a clinic that has spent a lot of time learning the principles behind Dr Sophia Yin's method for reducing stress in animals.
For you, it means that you and your beloved pet(s) will have a pleasant and happier visit at our clinic. You can be confident that the people handling your pet(s), will do so with skill, professionalism and care.
What It Means For: Us
When a client and their pet come in to our clinic, we feel that it is our duty of care to provide the best possible experience all-round.
That extends right through to the way that we handle and approach your pets from the second they are in our presence, even in our building. There is so much that goes in to making sure that your pet feels safe with us.
Stressed, scared and unhappy animals are harder to work with, so by being able to read the body language of fearful and anxious pets, we are able to help resolve those fears, or alternatively handle the pet in a way that prevents them from escalating.
